WELCOME
What is log-opoly?
I thought that you might ask!
I started to think about different ways to get the local Geocaching community involved with a 'side game' or a competition whilst finding Geocaches a few years ago now. I did this with the 'Nuts in Notts' series, (no longer called that, but the majority of those caches are still in play). I have been mulling something like this over for a little while now but, like most aspects of Geocaching at the moment. if you stand still and do nothing then the momentum of the game overtakes you and means that you are left playing catch up.
I initially intended to place a themed series of Geocaches around my home area. A stand-alone series, placed over a few months, and finding these caches would allow players to take part in a side game.
Finding the caches in the series will also result in getting a number of clues/passwords which will then lead to the players being able to unlock the co-ordinates of a bonus cache, (the location of which has been determined, and will be a high diff/terrain cache).
Finders of the other caches in the series will find a number of clues within the caches which should give you a password.
The bonus cache will hopefully be published soon, it will be a fiendish puzzle (if attempted from the cache page), but non-puzzle solvers will be able to use the clues found in the series caches, these will provide you with the same solution to the puzzle and this solution will give you access (via certitude) to the bonus co-ordinates.
So what do we do whilst waiting for the caches in the series to be published? You could try to solve the puzzle! Or you could work on the associated challenge and try to maximise your points total.
I will then put the totals on a leaderboard (for those that are interested).
I anticipate that most established players will be able to participate in the challenge side of the game and achieve a satisfying total, but this will not be that much of an advantage in the overall points tally, as finding the various Geocaches linked to the series will serve to enhance/multiply the players 'worth'. So an inexperienced cacher who plays the game and finds the caches in the series will be able to leap-frog those obsessive 'grid-fillers' towards the end of the game.

The gaps on the board will be added to as the caches in the series are published. Some caches will be placed and pubished in batches, others will be stand alone caches, there will be a variety of types and sizes, there will be a variety of cache types and terrain, so that's the introduction, now what about the rules.......
(See Board tab or click the board)
The leaderboard now only contains those that are apparently actively participating in the full series, if I have missed anyone off, intentionally or otherwise and you would like to be put back then please let me know.
Thanks for all of the lovely logs and favourite points so far.
PLEASE NOTE
I have ordered 6 Log-opoly tags. I will be giving the overall winner and other random players free tags, (I reckon I can stand to give 4 away) but if you would like me to order one for you, then please get in touch and we can discuss payment etc..
......................STOP PRESS!!!!!
PLEASE NOTE...The end of the Log-opoly leaderboard phase will be 15th May 2014. This will allow players time to increase and submit their final scores. Anyone who hasn't submitted their updated scores by midnight of this date will have to stick on their previously submitted score. Thanks for playing, and for the favourite points on the log-opoly caches.
